so blessed. day one
Paid bills today. Big blessing to be able to do that. My husband worked (will have worked...still at work) over thirteen hours for our family and when he comes home tonight he won't complain about it. Amazing, amazing, amazingly blessed. I can already tell that narrowing my daily blessings down into something composable is going to be the real challenge of the month. I don't even know where to begin.
I will record this little story from my afternoon. The kids and I were out and about our errands and I decided to swing by a thrift store that is along our route. Have you heard? Christmas is coming! Thrift stores. Another one of those blessings. Oh goodness. I do hope everyone gets a chance at some point in their lives to discover the joys of thrift store shopping. But today's joy wasn't in finding the best find ever kind of joy. It was the joy of an unexpected blessing from a stranger. While I was corralling the kids around me with one hand and browsing the children's clothing section with another, a woman next to me pulled a most adorable ***name brand jacket off the rack and handed it to me with a big smile on her face. "This would look so cute on your daughter," she said. And she was right. SO adorable. This simple but kind gesture really touched me. You see, one of the downsides of thrift store shopping (and I'm being totally honest here but laugh if you must), is it can turn you into a very aggressive shopper. Or so I used to think was my good excuse for becoming one. Lesson learned today. Big blessing. I will be a more thoughtful stranger.
***I find it totally ironic that name brands meant nothing to me until I started shopping thrift stores. Got to know when you're getting a good deal!
