so blessed. day fourteen
This time of year I find myself making lots and lots of lists. I'm a list kind of a girl. I love to make lists. I love to check things off my lists. Complete and done just. feels. so. good. I wouldn't go so far as to say I am blessed by lists... more like distracted by them in a too task oriented sort of a way. But, it is in all this list living that I have been blessed with a valuable life lesson.
Every few days or so I take my lists for the yogurt shop and spend hours wandering town filling carts (or cart beds...ughhh!!! as I have mentioned in previous posts ) crossing them off. Funny thing is, the same things continue to appear on my lists over and over and over and over again. (My kids could direct you to the plastic cutlery and the tri-fold napkins in Costco, no prob.) These kinds of lists I find no fun at all. Where's the feel good gone, and over, and done, and complete, when tasks just keep reappearing? Hello Motherhood! That is, I'm afraid, one reason I'm getting to experience all of this. To learn. To learn that it's not all about the completing, but about the becoming. Hello eternity! A little something that has been good for Santa to remember this season as she (she Santa!) has been busy making her lists and checking them twice...the first time for complete and another time for pausing and refocusing myself with the becoming part. Blessed when checking twice.
