"We're going on a bear hunt..."

We're going on a bear hunt.
We're going to catch a BIG one!
What a beautiful day.
We're not scared.

As the kids and I were driving down the mountain from a Halloween party we went to with Grandma and Grandpa Rasmussen tonight, a BIG bear ran right out in front of my car.  It's always a surreal feeling when you anticipate the unanticipatable.  You like that word?  :)  I sensed a dark shadow moving on my left and I stopped just in time.  We were very protected.  I'm always on the look out for deer, but bears...I guess we'll add them to the list of risks we take every time we make that drive!  Funny thing is the kids and I often chant this little chorus from a favorite book of theirs when we take our little mountain commute...but as a distraction when they start getting cranky.  Never did I think we'd be bear hunting for real!   Not as good of a story as the zebra that my brother spotted running through the streets of Sacramento (still skeptical!), but it was still pretty exciting!

It is true! There's some sort of exotic pet fanatic that has two zebras. Both pets escaped. but I only saw one. It reminded me of jumanji. Believe it; don't believe it. It is true. Now let me tell you 'bout the girrafe I saw running down the freeway...

I saw the zebra on the news.

#2-- Ask Karen Foote about the owl that became her hood ornament!
