anticipation

Anticipation is alive and well at our house as the kids can't wait to get all decked out in their Halloween costumes!  Well Russell, mostly, as he now seems to have a grasp of time and can count down the days.  His calendar consists of "sleeps."   "How many sleeps till we get to...?"  This is how he makes it through.  It's easy as an adult to forget how much fun anticipation can actually be.  Too many times, I guess, when our expectations have exceeded our reality.  But really, what's so wrong with that?   It's much worse to have bummer days leading up to a bummer day than to have glorious imaginations of magical days leading up to a bummer day...agree or disagree?  Dunno really, but the glorious imagination/anticipation thing is working for me lately.  So here's my "how many sleeps till...?" list:

-  Psych...where on earth did you go?   I'm so anticipating more Hulu midnight viewings of this show and laughing with  my hubby when he gets home from work.  Maybe it's just funny because the only time we have to watch it is when we should be sleeping.  Being super tired does do something to the funny factor...lots of laughs ahead!

-  Christmas music.  It makes me feel all warm and cozy inside.  And tonight my piano was delivered to me (thank you, thank you,  Ladd and Nancy and anyone else that gave a hand!) and oh, it's going to be as good as I thought it was.  Bring on the Christmas arrangements!  I'm a whole me again!

- Christmas crafting and gifting.  I lose sleep over THIS website... so many things I'd love to make.  The rain gutter bookshelves I can't stop thinking about and really, these would probably fall more in the category of husband Christmas gifting to wife, but he doesn't know that yet.  Santa's elves come in handy delivering those kinds of messages.  Oh, the anticipation!

- Holiday cooking.  Lots of tasty looking things I want to try from HERE

-  Chronicles of Narnia:  The Voyage of the Dawn Treader coming to theaters in Dec.  I loved how they represented the books in the first two films.  Can't wait to see what they do with the third.

-  Youth temple trip.  My hubby and I both get to go and it should be  is going to be, incredible!

-  Ward Trunk-or-treat/World series broadcast (our activities chairman had to throw that in there or else it was sure to be a no show)  It's going to be one happening black and orange Halloween celebration!

-  The trip that Jennifer and I take to New York...and no, this is NOT just a fantasy!  Well, maybe...but it's such a perfect opportunity!  Our friend is going to grad school at NYU right now and she's begging us to come visit her.  Okay, actually, she's totally in her fabulous student study kinda mode...but we really ought to be dear friends and let her know we're there (like, really THERE) for her.  How dear are we?! :)

- A bagel for breakfast tomorrow.  We even have cream cheese in our fridge.  Such a happy morning it will be!  I think I'll sneak down before the kids wake up so I actually get a chance to chew it.

- Falling asleep to a book I've been enjoying lately, "The Life of Pi."  I'd heard a lot of recommendations and fiction isn't usually my thing, but I haven't been disappointed.  It's beautifully written.

and I'm sure there's more but that's all my brain is giving me tonight.  Goodnight!

BEWARE: do NOT, under any circumstances make the peanut butter bars from our best bites. They are ridiculously quick to make and dangerously delicious. I was left with a stomach ache 3 days in a row! (yes, I indulged for 3 days) Sadly, they were TOTALLY worth it!
