"The Waiting Place"

I just put Russell down for a nap and we read Dr. Seuss' "Oh, the Places You'll Go"

I'm afraid these last couple of weeks I've been in the "most useless place" that the great Dr. S is teaching us to avoid..."The Waiting Place"

...for people just waiting
Waiting for a train to go
or a bus to come, or a plane to go
or the mail to come, or the rain to go
or the phone to ring, or the snow to snow
or waiting around for a Yes or No
or waiting for their hair to grow.
Everyone is just waiting.
Waiting for the fish to bite
or waiting for wind to fly a kite
or waiting around for Friday night
or waiting, perhaps, for their Uncle Jake
or a pot to boil, or a Better Break
or a string of pearls, or a pair of pants
or a wig with curls, or Another Chance.
Everyone is just waiting.

The little tick tocker to the right of this post has obviously not been communicating very well with baby 'cause she is still not here! So much for my intuition as a mother. I was completely convinced this one was coming early. And I even know what a contraction feels like! Needless to say, we are still waiting...

I'll do our laundry certain that it is the last load that I'll be doing before the little one arrives and what do you know, the hamper is full again. Or I'll visit the grocery store to get a weeks worth of food...do you think our fridge is ready for a baby now?! I don't think so... I'm over it. :) I say forget trying to prepare and that will guarantee her arrival! I've tried just about everything else that is safe to induce labor naturally. What's one more method? Sorry mom. There might be a lot of work to do when you get here! :)

So, there you have it. Apparently I'm as accurate in deciphering my maternal instincts as the baby ticker is that says my child is now four days old. I have a child that is four days old?

I know that the "Great Doctor of Rhymes" is right in that the waiting place is not for me, but you can't exactly go out an conquer the world when your water could break at any moment. So what's a girl to do?

I'll stick to the crocheting.....and wait.

Just know you are not the only one who feels like they are playing the waiting game. Though you have more right to complain.

Try vacuuming, that always made contractions start for me. Hope she comes soon.

You know doctors these days are saying that intercourse (yes, I said it) is the best way to induce labor/soften the cervix! I know Ryan wouldn't mind, but you may not have much to do with it. :) Just an idea...it's more fun that vacuuming! Can't wait to hear about her arrival. If she is waiting for Pres Scott to be home...he'll be there tomorrow evening! :) Good luck!

Good luck Jessica! We'll be thinking of you. I'm sorry you're waiting, although by now you may no longer be waiting. Looking forward to seeing pictures, etc, etc. Miss you.
