Tag, You're It!

Alison, it was fun learning about your deepest, darkest secrets and we're glad we have a friend like you for life! So here goes six things people may not know about me.

1. I love having short hair! I would always wear my hair short except that my husband likes long hair. But all of you girls out there with cute, short hairstyles, I envy you! It's a small price to pay, I suppose, to keep a husband happy. But one of these days, I'm telling you, I won't be able to contain myself and chop, chop, chop. Sorry Ryan! I'm really trying. But I'll make sure to save those long locks for your scrapbook! Ugh, that's gross!

2. I have a bad temper. We'll leave it at that. If you need stories, talk to Ryan. He lets me practice controlling my temper quite often, actually. In the four years we've been married he has given me many opportunities to get angry and also many opportunities to decide not to get angry. What a supportive husband he is in helping me control my temper, wouldn't you say?!

3. I have decided that I have really bad depth perception. Let me explain. I met Ryan on a blind date and the first time that I stood next to him I thought I was taller than him. I'm 5'4''. He's 6'. I avoid escalators because stairs are bad enough, but stairs moving away from me really messes with my brain. I can't seem to get the timing right of how long I should make my stride to get on the step that I want. This makes for driving with me a real treat. When I'm pulling out in front of cars, I always have to wait for a few cars to go by to get a sense of how far away they are and how long it takes for them to get to where I am. Sometimes this takes a while because they can be real, real, far away, but of course, I only learn this after I have waited for them to pass. I avoid driving like I avoid escalators.

4. I'm a carnivore at heart. I crave steak!

5. Dogs scare me. We never had a dog growing up. I don't know how to read them. We'll for sure have a dog some day, but it will be a challenge for me.

6. I like to wear nylons. Yes, that is probably old fashioned. What do they say about nylons on "What Not to Wear?" I don't think it would matter to me if they said it was the next cardinal sin in fashion listed directly after "don't wear mini skirts after 35." By the way, I don't have a problem with the mini skirts thing, but if I did wear them (and technically I'm still allowed to 'cause I'm 24), I'd be wearing them with nylons. I feel secure and powerful in them. Oh, I'll let you in on another little secret, or tip, if you will. When I get runs in the toes, I tie knots in them. Sometimes I have multiple knots. This doesn't make for a very comfortable day, but it does make the nylons last longer. I realize it's quite pathetic, but confidence sometimes comes at a hefty price!
